The Site Details Page

Okay guys, here we are on the site details page Now.
This page um is where you’re going to enter a lot of really important information, not only for your website,
but um for sending data to the booking p.
I. Main site where we’re going to be drawing tourist traffic to send them again back to you.
So the we found that the data, the page was getting really long with all the data that we were needing to gather from you.
So what we did was we divided it up into sections in tabs here.
So we’ve got a general tab, accommodation details,
social media and images.
Okay. Um
important to remember every time you’re updating when you update one of the tabs, um go over here and click update just so you remember that you have saved your work um always best to save frequently.
Um Yeah, so you’ll also notice,
I mean in all the sections of the site, but in particular we’re looking at this one um you’ll see that there’s these glowing blue dots sort of scattered about and if there’s one there and you hover over with
your mouse, you’re gonna get what’s called a tool tip.
And so everywhere we thought that it would be especially helpful to get a little bit more information, we’ve added these tool tips.
So for example, here I’m hovering over the hero image,
the hero image is when you go to the to the uh to your website and there’s a big image across the top, right underneath the header,
that’s the hero image. So it stretches the full width of the page so it’s pretty important to upload a big enough image there now, but not too big. Here’s what it says.
The image will be loud and proud needs to be 1200 pixels wide so that it retains its quality.
Most pictures coming off of a camera or a phone, they’re gonna be like three or 4000 pixels wide.
So like that’s way too big. It’s better if you resize it first yourself, if you don’t know how or you’re not comfortable with that,
we have set our system to automatically resize images over 1200 pixels, but that’s still not the best way for you to get the right image size.
And I’m going to do another video showing you how to resize images.
Just thought I’d give you that little disclaimer here.
So if you wanted to replace this image, for example, I just hover over the image,
click this X to get rid of the one that’s there, click add image and either you can pick one that’s already in your gallery.
Um or you can go to upload files, select files here.
I am in my picture uh folder, I don’t really have anything appropriate here.
How about we upload an image of a lawnmower
click And this more.
Take a second because it’s actually 2500 pixels wide so there we know I should have resized that.
But what’s going to happen is it’s going to get smushed.
Uh it’s a very technical term smushed at any rate.
And then I just say select now.
Another thing to note when you’re adding images to your site if you want to um give google something more to grab onto besides your regular content.
It’s really important to give your images a proper title.
So in this instance I would say lawnmower
and then also I often just copy this and paste exactly the same thing into all text.
Um alter text is for when people Um have vision vision vision issues they will often use what’s called a screen reader. So when they’re online looking at websites a screen reader will actually read out to them what the image is called based on the all text.
So if it’s just um your camera names things with a really long number like 4053642.
Not helpful for somebody with visual impairment.
So fill in the all text and google will well thank you.
So here we go now I’m gonna select this image
and there it is now of course I want to click update
otherwise all that work was for not
fantastic. Yeah.
Oh wait a minute. Pretty important here too.
Featured image. This is the image that will appear in your operator listing on the booking pe I main site.
So this image this hero image.
This is for your website that we’ve given you with your template.
This image which will be a little smaller because it’s just showing up in an operator listing when people click where all the cottages on P.
E. I. And then there’s a long list of operators with cottages.
This is the image that goes with that. So it doesn’t it doesn’t need to be super big.
Um, also it’s more likely going to be viewed square.
So you don’t need a 1200 pixel wide image there.
Uh, and you also may want it to be a different image than the one you that you’re using on the home page of your site.
So that’s what this image is for.
